Environmental Engineering – Inženjerstvo okoliša

Environmental Engineering – Inženjerstvo okoliša publishes scientific and professional papers, as well as other contributions, within the interdisciplinary field of environmental engineering as defined in the Aims and Scope section of the Journal.

All manuscripts undergo a peer review process. Depending on their content and contribution, papers are categorized as original scientific papers, preliminary communications, review papers, or professional/technical papers.

Language and Structure

Manuscripts must be written exclusively in English.

The first page should include:

  • Paper title (clear, illustrative, and representative of the content; local names should be accompanied by generally recognized terms in the wider region)
  • Authors’ names, institutional affiliations, and e-mail addresses
  • Abstract (up to 300 words)
  • 4–6 keywords

If a corresponding author is not indicated, the Editorial Office will contact the first-listed author.

Length and Publication

The journal is published biannually. There are no publication charges.
While the length of the paper is not strictly limited, it is recommended not to exceed 15 single-spaced A4 pages, including figures and tables.

Figures and Tables

Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively and cited in the text in bold font.
Acceptable widths are 8 cm or 16 cm.
Figures (images, diagrams, photographs) must be provided at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and submitted in a separate folder.
Each table and figure must include a clear heading or caption.

Formatting Requirements

  • File format: Microsoft Word
  • Page setup: A4, margins 25 mm, single spacing (1.0), one column, justified alignment
  • Font: Times New Roman, 10 pt (body text), section headings 11 pt bold, aligned left
  • Page numbering: automatic, bottom right corner
  • Style: third person singular, consistent with applicable legal regulations and the International System of Units (SI)
  • All equations must be numbered

References and Citation

Only previously published works should be cited in the reference list. Personal communications and unpublished materials may be referred to in the text or acknowledgments, but should not appear in the reference list.
References must be formatted according to the Harvard citation style.
The reference list should be alphabetically ordered and include only sources cited in the text.

Submission and Review Process

Manuscripts may be submitted via the online submission form at

or by e-mail to casopis@gfv.hr.

Submission implies that the paper has not been previously published and is not under review elsewhere. Authors are responsible for the content and for securing any necessary permissions to publish data, figures, or images.

If the paper is accepted, authors are required to revise their manuscript in accordance with the reviewers’ and editors’ comments. Failure to submit the revised version within three months will be considered a withdrawal.

Proofs and Publication

Before publication, authors will receive proofs for final inspection and minor corrections.
Articles accepted for publication will be published online only. Each author will receive the final PDF of their paper.
